The village of Prades-le-Lez has all you need from shops to cafes to dentists/doctors etc. and is fantastic for doing walks from into the garrigue, in particular to the Chateau Restinclieres and the source of the little river Lez, where is found a fish found nowhere else in the world. There are secret swimming spots, but also the location allows you to explore beautiful areas in all directions. There is a bus into Montpellier which takes about half an hour, and brings you close to the universities.. If you are looking for a place to write, think and write, and get ideas nibbling a baguette on the way back from the bakery, let alone whilst quaffing delicious red wines and cheeses from the local area, including Pic St Loup, this might suit you. You just have to bring your basic things, go shopping less than 5 mins away on foot, go for a walk and dip your feet in the Source of the Lez and you have arrived.
