There is also a small, efficient wood-stove in the living room which you can use if you have the chimney cleaned before using. Note that I have my own well, so you'll have clean, drinkable water direct from a deep well to your taps. Getting Around: Nearby are hiking and cross-country skiing trails, streams for fishing, rivers for boating, and low-traffic biking roads. Within walking distance of popular local cafe, the Montague Bookmill (www.montaguebookmill.com). Also located 10 minutes from Route 2; 15 minutes from Route 91, UMass, and Old Deerfield, and 20 minutes from Amherst College, as well as schools such as Northfield Mount Herman. Twenty-five minutes from Smith College, Northampton, and Hampshire College. Less than two hours from Boston across scenic Route 2, and 3 to 4 hours from New York City depending on traffic. And there are free tennis courts within 15 minutes. Ideal for quiet, non-smoking, low-chemical-use people looking for a peaceful, homey oasis in a hectic schedule.
