Spacious bright studio right in the historical downtown grid of Kyoto, minutes from Shijo-Karasuma subway and Hankyu train station, a short walk to Kyoto main station. Step out onto lively streets full of shops, restaurants, cafes, and temples and then return home to a calm oasis for a quiet comfortable stay. This bright comfortable studio (22 square meters + narrow balcony) has air conditioning/heating, a new double bed, small kitchen for hot drinks and simple meals (mini-refrigerator, electric kettle, IH hot plate, microwave), eating/writing area, sofa, shower/bath, and a closet with a bit of storage. \We have deliberately tried to keep the furnishing spare for maximum light and space. The apartment includes a washing machine for clothes, and a rack to dry them inside or on the balcony. There is a laundromat nearby for large-scale drying. The apartment is located off-street, with virtually no traffic/street noise. Sliding glass doors open onto a balcony overlooking tiled rooftops. The apartment is in the core of historic downtown Kyoto. Although we are close to the main artery of Karasuma, our narrow one-way street is surprisingly quiet (except in July when the Gion Matsuri floats pass by). The neighborhood has a balanced mix of residential housing and small businesses, and of old and new. There is an important local temple adjacent to our street. Coffee shops (including Starbucks), convenience stores, and cheap places to eat line Karasuma, and there are countless other restaurants and cafes on the side streets, a fair number of them in traditional machiya. GUEST REVIEWS Oona October 2017 The apartment was lovely, very clean and spacious and in a great location. There are nearby subway and bus stops as well as convenience stores and restaurants. Katy was immensely helpful when I was getting ready to travel to Kyoto. I had an excellent stay, would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Kyoto. Brian October 2018 We liked our stay very much. It was very well located, with restaurants (not toursity) all around. Convenient to department store food halls. Easy walk to JR station, Gion, and main commerce streets. Very easy access to subways and busses. For most sights we walked. Apartement was as expected in pictures. Good cross breeze and good A/C (lots of options) when needed. Not stuffy, light and airy. Not too much closet/storage space. Katy was very good as responding to questions. Paperwork went smoothly. Would stay again. August 2018 Nice and clean place, and bigger than expected for an apartment in Japan. Perfect for two, but can accommodate up to three. ~5 minutes from Gojo station on foot and within walking distance to all the restaurants on Shijo and Nishiki market. 3 convenient stores nearby. The wifi is fast. A/C works well and there are a few fans to help you get through summer. December 2018 Our was nothing short of amazing! There was plenty of room for both of us and this apartment provided an excellent home base after long days exploring. There is a great A/C + Heating unit, a big fan and a little one, guidebooks, storage bins, etc. There were a lot of extra touches that really helped make us feel at home. It is located right in the heart of all the best public transportation options that the city has to offer. We were located only a 5 minute walk from major bus stops and 2 major subway stations. We were only a 15 minute walk (or 2 minute bus ride) from the Keihan line, which goes to Fushimi Inari. There were also a plethora of eating options (for all budgets) right on the Main Street adjacent. We enjoyed stopping at the nearby nice Starbucks for coffee. The couch and bar table were a nice extra place for us to sit and hangout. There is a nice mini fridge and plenty of mugs, plates, and cutlery at our disposal.
