Hi. We have a great home in Blacksburg for you. The house is adjacent to our current house and separated by about 1/2 acre. The home is furnished and is a turn-key rental, that is appropriate for visiting professors, post-docs, sabbaticals, international hires, new hires, and professionals. You can arrive with some suitcases and be ready to live here. It is a dedicated furnished rental home, not our house that we are vacating temporarily. We have had multiple sabbatical families in the house as well as those relocating to Virginia Tech to work professionally. All of them commented on how helpful we made their move. We are directly next door and can help you with the hundreds of different decisions you will have to make when you get to Blacksburg (particularly if you are coming from outside the U.S). We speak English (although we wish we spoke 4 different languages :) The house is comfortable for (up to) 2 adults and 2 children (maybe more if they double up in a room). 2000sq-ft total, split between two levels. The house is clean, well-furnished, and comfy. This is the best located house in the best family community in Blacksburg. 2 miles to campus. 1 mile to shopping center, restaurants, banks, bus route, and supermarkets. -Most sought-after schools in the area: Kipps Elementary, Blacksburg Middle School, Blacksburg High School. - Ranch style house, 3 bedrooms upstairs, with family room and kitchen. - Includes most kitchen items that you would need. Also includes comforters, blankets, and towels. You supply bedsheets. - Basement has large furnished TV room, office, workshop, and laundry. - Carport. -Front Yard is 10-acre community park with: Playground Equipment, Gazebo, Flat Open Grass Field, Basketball Court Tennis Court -Front Yard also accesses 180 acre Heritage Park (open wild space) and the Huckleberry Trail.. -Mountain Bike/walk to Pandapas without having to get in your car. Mountain bike skills park is a 10 minute bike ride. We now have brand new mountain biking (and hiking) trails that you can access (without getting in your car). - You can walk to a farm stand, which conveniently has a rural brewpub with food and live music (super fun and unique) . - Sledding and XCountry Skiing right out the front door (and it is finally snowing again around here). - Sidewalks and bike lanes all the way to University Mall (1 mile walk). - Awesome neighbors in friendly neighborhood. Lots of young kids. Great sense of community. - The property and surrounding land are beautiful. -House and property are adjacent to landlords home. -No Smoking. No Vaping. - 1+ year lease preferred. Application including background checks, rental history, proof of income, etc required. We extensively check backgrounds and funding sources. We might consider a shorter term lease based on our circumstances at the time and an increase in monthly rent. - No Pets. Strictly enforced. - Tenant pays utilities (water, trash, electric), mows yard, does basic leave/yard maintenance. Mowing lawn takes about 45 minutes. Owner provides mower. Water+trash=80/month depending on use. 130-200$ electric depending on weather + setting. - References available to speak for us and the home. We'd love to talk to you. Please email me today.
