Home is adjacent to our current house and separated by about 1/2 acre. We furnished the home two years ago and it is a turn-key professional rental which is appropriate for visiting professors, post-docs, sabbaticals, and international hires. You can arrive with some suitcases and be ready to live here. It is a dedicated furnished rental, not our house that we are vacating temporarily. We have had a Swiss, Brazilian, and US sabbatical family in the house. Besides having many positives, we are directly next door and can help you with the hundreds of different decisions you will have to make when you get here (particularly if you are coming from outside the U.S). We speak english. We have 2 girls under age 13. We have lived in Blacksburg for 30+ years. The house is comfortable for (up to) 2 adults and 2 children (maybe 3 if they double up in a room). 2000sq-ft on two levels. The house is clean, well-furnished, and comfy. This is the best located house in the best family community in Blacksburg. 2 miles to campus. 1 mile to shopping. - Ranch style house, 3 bedrooms upstairs, with family room and kitchen - Basement has large furnished TV room, office, workshop, and laundry. - Carport. -Most sought-after schools in the area: Kipps Elementary, Blacksburg Middle School, Blacksburg High School. -Front Yard is 10-acre community park Children s Playground Equipment Gazebo Flat Open Grass Field Basketball Court Tennis Court -Front Yard also accesses 180 acre Heritage Park (open wild space) and the Huckleberry Trail. Mountain Bike/walk to Pandapas without having to get in your car. Mountain Bike skills park. Sledding and cross country skiing when it snows. ---Sidewalks and bike lanes all the way to University Mall (1 mile walk). ---Awesome neighbors in friendly neighborhood. Lots of young kids. Great sense of community. - The property and surrounding land are beautiful. -House and property are adjacent to landlords home. -No Smoking. No Vaping. - 1+ year lease preferred. Application including background checks, rental history, proof of income, etc required. We extensively check backgrounds and funding sources. - No Pets. Strictly enforced. -Owner pays utilities (water, trash, electric), mows yard, basic leave/yard maintenance. - References available to speak for us and the home. - We expect the house will be open for lease Aug 1st 2021 for one (minimum) or more years. We "might" consider a 6 month lease for an increase in rent. Depending on the various factors going on with the pandemic and jobs in the area, please contact us with your needs. It is possible that available move-in dates may change. **Here's a bit tip. Even if you don't rent our house.... You can't show up in Blacksburg, rent a hotel, and try to find a house once you get into the United States. That may work in some places, but not Blacksburg. There are very few dedicated, FURNISHED, professional rentals in Blacksburg and the rental market (even for unfurnished homes) is insanely tight. Email for questions.
