An exquisite, historical house with sea views in the old centre of Koskinou, Rhodes' most beautiful village. Dating back to 1889, the "Mandarin House" was renovated in traditional style. The private courtyard has a beautiful mandarin tree, a large dining area, an outside shower, and a jacuzzi - for summer and winter. The three roof terraces offer unique experiences in complete privacy: a nap in the romantic hanging bed, meal or cocktails with village view, drinks watching amazing sunsets and sun bathing. Mandarin House offers an ideal setting for an academic sabbatical in home-away-from-home office. Ideal for writing and reflection. Fast and reliable internet keep you connected to the world while from your desk you watch over the village's white-washed houses and hear the Gregorian chants from the old village church. Beyond are the Mediterranean Sea and the Turkish coastline. In the evening, you can have a delicious meal and listen to traditional Greek live music in one of the village's excellent and renowned tavernas. Rhodes international airport is only 20 minutes away and offers direct connections across Europe during the Summer season (April - October) while Aegean Airlines keeps you connected to the world during the rest of the year with a stopover in Athens. There are also ferry connections to islands across the Aegean, including the nearby islands of Chalki and Symi, which can be easily visited on a day trip. The total living space of the property is 108 sqm in addition to around 90 sqm of outdoor space. It has two bedrooms with queen-size beds, plus a third double bed on the mezzanine. The majestic living room is built under a 6 meter high ceiling. The kitchen is fully equipped. For your entertainment there is a smart TV with internet access and a Netflix subsciption, as well as a stereo and two portable bluetooth players. The house was built in traditional Koskinou style, with a stone arch carrying the weight of the house. The carefully restored mosaic floors that cover the whole ground floor are made from small pebbles collected from Rhodes' beaches arranged in beautiful patterns. This is a very expensive method and only found in houses that were owned by people who could afford such a luxury. In 2014, the house was renovated, adding a second floor and the roof terraces. The renovation was done in an environment-friendly manner, using traditional techniques and materials, combining modern comfort with the beauty of the past. The villa is ideal for stays throughout the year. It is equipped with air conditioning for hot Summer days, and a fireplace and wood stove to keep you warm and cosy if it ever gets chilly during the Winter months. Winter is a relative thing in this most South Eastern corner of Europe, though. You may find yourself swimming until deep in December. The outdoor jacuzzi will cool you down or keep you warm, whatever the season requires. The old village where the house is located is car-free. There is ample parking space within walking distance, though. If you wish, we can refer you to a rental car company that offers very reasonable rates with easy airport pick up and drop off.
