Welcome! Our sunny home in the Regent neighborhood adjacent to the UW-campus, UW-Hospital, and Lake Mendota/Picnic Point is a bright and comfortable oasis for your visit to Madison. With this as your home base, you can walk, ride, take the bus, or drive to campus, State Street, the Capitol Square Farmers' Market, Monroe Street, cultural events, restaurants, cafes, and shops all over town. There's also a little pocket park one block away with a basketball court, picnic table, and play structures. We are a few minutes' bike ride away from multiple recreational and commuter biking and walking paths that get you around the city, as well as farther afield. A pleasant walk or ride along the UW Lakeshore Path delivers you to the Memorial Union Terrace for outdoor music and sunset dining. Madison and Dane County are known for their extensive park system and natural areas for hiking and other recreational activities, many of which are just a short drive out of town. In addition to several local farmers' markets, the Regent Market Co-op, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Willy Street Food Co-op, and Metcalfe's Sentry Market are all nearby options for groceries. Our 100 year-old home is well cared for and in good condition. As with all old homes, it has its charms and quirks. Included in the list of charms are: Lots of light, color, handmade wooden furniture, a big old cast-iron tub, books, art, and lovely front and back gardens. The quirks are that we have neither a TV/cable service nor a dishwasher, in case those are deal breakers for you. This is our primary residence--not an investment property--so we ask that our guests who we invite into our home are respectful of us, both our house and its furnishings, and also of our fantastic neighbors and friends living nearby. This is a great location and set up for a traveling nurse (UW Hospital a 5-minute walk), grad student, orprofessor.
