With views of your own waterfall in the back, you’ll be a short walk from the Hudson, and within sight of the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Park, its beautiful walking and biking trails literally at your doorstep. Very quiet, you’ll hear only birds, the rustle of trees, and the cascade of the waterfall. The house is fully furnished (all kitchen things and linens included) with new heating/air conditioning. The 2 bedrooms are compact but light and functional. Open plan kitchen/dining/living room with adjacent office/TV space. The house is airy and has an open feel and lots of windows looking out to pretty views of waterfall, lawns, trees and two brooks. A short walk up the hill brings you to the town’s main road where you’ll find a cafe (currently open only Fridays and Sundays), post office, library, 2 art galleries, the historical society’s little museum. There’s also a place where you can rent a kayak, then take it down the hill to the boat launch on the Hudson River. Day trips to NYC are fairly easy - Poughkeepsie train station is less than 15 mins by car. Regular trains get you to Grand Central in about 2 hrs. Pharmacy (CVS), supermarket, restaurants are 5 min drive from house. Hyde Park’s proximity to many colleges, historical houses, museums and art centers means you can find a lively intellectual and artistic community if you want one. Bard and Vassar (both 25 mins by car) each have excellent concert, theater, and dance events throughout the year, as well as some fantastic architectural gems on their campuses. Take cooking classes or just have lunch at the Culinary Institute of America, 10 min drive.
