I work at the University of Melbourne on maritime decarbonisation. Due to the nature of my research and collaborations, I am away a lot including stints of 6+ months (usually to the Pacific or Europe). During these periods I gladly help people find a place to stay in Melbourne. The apartment is in the Nightingale 2 building, which is designed to high environmental and aesthetic standards. My furnishing of the apartment is simple and functional, with both modern and antique elements. It has two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized mattress. One bedroom also has a desk in it currently. (Though this set-up can be changed as I can easily place some of the furniture in my storage box.) The living room has an open-plan kitchen with a dining table and a secretaire/desk. Thanks to excellent insulation, ceiling fans, and underfloor heating, the apartment is kept at a comfortable temperature year-round with limited energy use. The building itself if more than a collection of apartments: It's a group of progressive people who are good neighbours and - indeed - good friends. The Fairfield Village includes shops, restaurants, pharmacies, a post office, and several medical practitioners. This makes for a very pleasant and convenient walkable life. Getting around the city by bike or public transport is easy and convenient from the apartment, with the metro train station right next door. There are two (GoGet) shared cars in front of the building, which can be booked and used easily at good rates. I generally commute to campus by bike - which takes me half an hour at a leisurely pace. Though with the opening of the Metro Tunnel, it is now easy to take the metro/train there as well. I don't own a car; which is perfectly fine in this building. Though should you want to rent a car long-term, there is always space to park at the station car park 100m away. I have a significant collection of books, which is a mix of academic, non-fiction, and fiction titles. You are warmly invited to read them of course. Through Sabbatical homes, I hope to find someone - or indeed a family - who is keen to make the place home in my absence.

Comments: Secure bike storage in the building. I do not own a car so I cannot offer one for use; though with the train station next and two car share vehicles in front of the building, a private car is by no means a necessity.
