The house is located in a small rural village about 1 mile from Baveno & only a few minutes walk along a pebbled footpath to the beach on the lakeshore. Around the village, there are many footpaths across enchanted woods going all the way up to Alpino Golf Club near Gignese, Mottarone skying facilities and to the nearby village of Stresa. Other hiking footpaths lead to to spectacular alpine sites such as the Val Grande National Park. In Baveno you can swim, sail, hire bikes, enjoy yoga, spa resort, food and drinks and find shopping facilities: delicatessen, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and public transport (boat, train and bus to other locations). The nearby village of Stresa hosts an international classical music festival in September and Orta San Giulio an ancient music international festival in June. Milan is one hour away by train and Malpensa International Airport only 45' by train, bus or car. Around Lake Maggiore there are other small lakes like Lake Orta and Lake Mergozzo where you can relax and enjoy water landscapes and walks. The house is nested on a hill. It has two floors and an outside garden. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a corridor and a bathroom. Master bedroom has two windows over the lake, all other rooms along a corridor have large windows overlooking the garden and the lake shore. Downstairs there is a large hall, another small bathroom with toilet and sink, a large living room opening onto a spacious terrace overlooking the lake with 180° view over the Swiss Italian alps, a large table for 6, retractable sun curtain. The garden can be reached from the kitchen balcony through a stone staircase leading to a pergola with a bench and large stone table. At the bottom of the staircase there is a storage room with a washing machine and gardening tools. Under the terrace there is a covered patio garden chairs and another small table, three deck chairs and other chairs. The garden looks over the lake and has various species of plants, including rare ones which grow spontaneously due to the presence of botanical gardens on Isola Madre, Villa Taranto and Villa Pallavicino. Transport facilities by boat, bus and train connect Baveno and Stresa to Malpensa International Airport (45'), Milan (60'), and other nearby lakes and tourist attractions Ascona (Switzerland), Orta, Mergozzo. Thee house belongs to my 89 y.o. mother who has Parkinson's Disease. I help her managing the property and find reliable tenants to cover costs and keep the house in the family. Its location and quiet is unique, a little oasis and writers' paradise. We also use the house when possible and look for respectful tenants who enjoy an old fashioned house with a spectacular location and a breathtaking view. The view is truly mesmerizing, a living painting which changes with the rise and fall of the sun and moon, under the vault of the sky. A good spot for observing the transit of constellations at night throughout the year.
