Our quaint & bright cottage is a rear in-law unit situated in the Garfield Heights Historic District of Pasadena. Built in the early 1900's, this house is a converted horse stable with a nice, bright bedroom, large kitchen, bathroom, living room and office area. It looks out onto a communal patio area, lined by Orange, Apple, Peach, Cherry & Pomegranate trees. There is a huge back yard with chickens, a kids swing, fire pit, hammock, garden and a small pool in the summer. The kitchen is fully stocked with a coffee maker, oven, full size fridge, plates, bowls, utensils, knives, pots and pans. Built in 1899, our property is a Mills Act Historic property, a certified Wildlife Habitat, and we are on the trajectory of becoming a zero waste property. This means we compost all organic matter here on the property, irrigate all fruit trees with grey water, reuse and limit our landfill waste and capture and store rainwater to be used in our garden. We are happy to share our process if you're curious! There is an A/C unit in the kitchen for warmer months, and several heaters for colder months. The guest house is right behind the main house, and accessible via a shared driveway. There are two front doors to the space that open onto a patio area. THIS UNIT IS NOT ADA ACCESSIBLE. It is an older building with narrow doorways, steps to enter, a clawfoot bathtub and stairs to the kitchen. The guest house is within 1.5 miles from the Rose Bowl and Old Town Pasadena. The nearby Arroyo Seco is a beautiful place for a walk under the famous Colorado Street bridge. The Norton Simon museum is 2 miles away and features an exquisite selection of works from artists such as Rembrandt, Gota, Manet, Rodin, Monet, Cezanne and Van Gogh.
