The historic property is located in the main street of Montàgano, a small hilltop town (1000 inhabitants) at 800 meters of altitude, 1 hour from the Adriatic coast and 15 minutes from Campobasso, the regional capital. It was built originally in the late 18th century and renovated around 1840, when also the adjacent neo-classical chapel of Santa Filomena, still part of the property, was added. The complex was then home to a renowned scholar of divinity, philosophy, and mathematics: Agostino Tagliaferri (1822-1896), a follower and friend of the more famous Antonio Rosmini. This mansion was recently restored with earthquake proofing, and without altering its original features, including the beautiful ceilings decorated with allegorical figures. The section available for short rentals is accessed via a grand staircase of local stone; it has high ceilings, a large bedroom with original furniture, a frescoed ceiling, and a new bathroom; a spacious living/dining room; a stylish large kitchen with a freestanding marble counter and modern appliances. For three years (2021-2023) this house was the core a music Festival (Festival Janigro), and hosted world-famous cellist Antonio Meneses (1957-2024). Maestri such as Boris Belkin, Michele Campanella, Gustavo Tavares have also attended gatherings and social events here.
