This three-bedroom 1898 rowhouse is two stories. It has wood floors throughout apart from the kitchen and bathroom. The house retains many of its original features. The first floor contains a vestibule, entry hall, living room, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen door opens onto a back porch facing a small garden, rock outcrop and wooded hillside. In the warm weather you can sit outside at the table and chairs to eat or work. The second floor contains three bedrooms, (in the front, middle and back of the house), and a bathroom. I use the middle bedroom as an office. The front and back bedrooms are separated by the bathroom and the office. The stairs and second floor hall are luminous due to the overhead skylight. There is a full basement with a washer/dryer. This is a shoeless house. The neighbors are friendly, equally quiet and respectful, and we help one another out as needed. We are walking distance to Main Street, the train station, bike path, and Wissahickon Park. A car is not required here but it would be useful. I lived in Center City and West Philadelphia for 9 years without a car until I got my dog and moved to Manayunk. I enjoy the relative peace and quiet here, the overall safety, the sense of place, and the proximity to Penn. I have a neighbor colleague who ebikes to Penn regularly. What I look for in a housemate is someone who is mindful of others, considerate, respectful, accountable, mature, clean, a strong communicator, has a sense of humour, is caring and self-reliant. I occasionally have friends over for meals and otherwise live a fairly quiet life.

Comments: I prefer to rent to someone who will commit to a school year (ca. 10 months). I will consider shorter stays depending upon availability.

Comments: Manayunk is a safe and lovely 19th c., hillside mill town along the Schuylkill river with an historic main street. Manayunk is well connected via public transportation, bicycle, walking and car to Center City, the Main Line, and Wissahickon Park.
Comments: All utilities and common household items are shared monthly (e.g. toilet paper, dish soap, etc). We share house cleaning responsibilities and clean once a week. Rent is due the first of the month and bill payments are due by the end of the month.
Comments: No cats.
I have a 58 pound friendly muppet of a dog. She is my responsibility. When I occasionally travel I ask a friend to come stay and help with her unless you are interested in helping care for her.
Whoever is home brings in the mail daily.
If I am out of town, I might ask you to help water my plants.
Comments: We share weekly housecleaning responsibilities. This is a clear expectation.

Comments: Manayunk has a high walkability score. Situated on a hillside, the town offers delightful views across the river and far more exposure to sky and light than Center City or W. Phila. Enjoy local free music in the parks & Main Street festivals.
