This 1920s townhouse is in the unique neighborhood of “Colonia Ciudad Jardin,” with its pedestrian streets that feels more like a village than a large city, where you can listen to the calls of birds all day instead of cars. The neighborhood was built in the early 20th century as part of the "Garden City" movement. For those interested in architecture and the history of urbanism, the immediate neighborhood is a living museum. There is a comfortable living room with a fireplace for the cooler months, an equipped kitchen, an office with glass doors that look out on a delightful, leafy patio and a powder room on the ground floor. The master bedroom, equipped with a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom is on the first floor. There is another pleasant bedroom on the second floor with two twin beds. In the case of the 1 bedroom option we would use the second room for storage of our things, if you prefer having 2 bedrooms we will move our things into a storage facility. This house could perfect for a couple or an individual who appreciates peace and quiet as it is far enough away from the lively terrazas and bars that are ubiquitous in Madrid. It could also be very comfortable for a family with elementary aged children or adolescents since it is located near to several popular English language schools like Madrid Montessori, Hastings, International School of Madrid, Holy Mary and progressive Spanish schools like Colegio Madrid, Colegio Estudio Conde de Orgaz campus, Colegio Arturo Soria. Children can join others who play safely in the colonia’s pedestrian streets and playgrounds. The house is 1290 square feet/ 120 square meters and has private outside space adding approximately 100 usable square meters (1075 sf) to the property. There is a ground level patio and a large, first floor terrace off a bedroom with plants, a table and a siesta-inducing hammock. The terrace can be used as your second office or as a perfect spot for relaxing and unwinding while enjoying a meal. The municipal sports center, Centro Deportivo Municipal Pradillo, has a swimming pool, tennis courts and soccer field and is an easy five minute walk from the house. Conveniently located next door is a city electric bike station that you can access by downloading a simple app BiciMad. This system is reliable and is the fastest way to get around the city. There are two metro stations nearby (Alfonso XIII, Concha Espina) as well as many city bus lines. The center of Madrid (el Centro) is approximately 20 minutes by metro or bus. Taxis are also readily available. Since commercial life in Madrid remains very neighborhood oriented, most everything you might need is within walking distance.
