Description
This is a to-the-studs renovation of a home located smack in the middle of West Hartford Center. The project involved stripping the house to the studs, opening the staircase to create 20-plus foot ceilings in the entrance, and two separate additions (to add over 1,000 square feet of space). Absolutely everything in the house was redone, completed in 2020. Everything is state of the art. The house is beyond bright--we added 19 (yes, 19) skylights and extra large windows throughout. Even in winter, the house beams. Soaring ceilings add to the sense of space. All three bedrooms are suites--two have walk-in closets. One has a private outdoor deck. The master bedroom has a steam room and a dry sauna. We chose this house to renovate because of its location. It is IN West Hartford Center. Walk out the door and you are surrounded by restaurants, cafes, bookstores, cinema, etc. But the house is a refuge, on a 10,000 square foot lot with gardens on all sides of the house itself. We are a small family (academics) relocating temporarily for a sabbatical. We love reading, cooking, gardening, traveling and outdoor activities.
