Here's your chance to live like a local in Rome's most iconic neighborhood, Trastevere. You'll stay in our second-floor walk-up apartment in a historic building from the 1700s. Our building has only three apartments, owned by just one local Trastevere family, who lives in the other two apartments, and they also own the restaurant downstairs! It doesn't get more authentic, and homes like this are very rarely available for sabbatical stays or home swaps. The apartment is a mix of upscale and old-world charm, recently remodeled with a modern designer kitchen and breakfast bar, traditional windows with shutters overlooking the cobblestone lane below, original wood beam ceilings, and even your own little balcony off the bedroom, facing a peaceful internal courtyard. High-speed internet, a large smart TV, and a dedicated work area make this the perfect place for your sabbatical, working as a digital nomad, or simply enjoying an extended time living abroad. Our apartment is in the old historic section of Rome's Trastevere neighborhood, one of the last truly Roman neighborhoods, and it feels like a small village nestled in the city. Charm is everywhere, from flower boxes in the windows to friendly neighbors and shopkeepers, and you'll quickly feel welcomed as a member of our vibrant little community. You'll absolutely love our home's location because it's in the quiet part of Trastevere, just across from Tiber Island. This corner is a highly sought-after and exclusive pocket of the neighborhood where it's rare to find long-term rentals. It's tucked away, yet you're just a stroll from all the neighborhood's famous nightlife—some of the city's best restaurants, pizzerie, bars, and gelato shops. Plus we have double-paned windows that effectively cancel out any street noise from below and keep the apartment well-insulated. You can walk to anywhere in the historic center from here, with the iconic Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Circus Maximus, and the Colosseum all within a 15-30 minute walking radius from your front door! Plus there's a convenient bus stop just a couple minutes' walk away. If you're interested in a home swap, we're looking to stay one year starting July 2026 in a home in Kitsap or Pierce County, Washington State.
