Victorian home near Downtown and UT

Built in 1906, our downtown Austin home is located in the Willow-Spence historic district in East-central Austin. This quiet, friendly neighborhood is a quick walk from downtown, the Town Lake hike and bike trails, and the Cap Metro Rail line. Central East Austin features tons of fantastic restaurants, some really great bars, and is a dream for bike commuters. Within one block of the house, we have Black Swan Yoga and the Terrazas branch of Austin Public Library. Our fully furnished house retains the character of its 1906 style, with original, antique long-leaf pine floors, original wood windows, and lovingly restored trim. Modern HVAC keeps it comfortable in all seasons. A new back deck opens on to a spacious, green backyard with abundant trees and two raised beds ready to prep for gardening. The house has a living room, music/dining room with a piano, a kitchen with a beautiful vintage oven, fridge and dishwasher, and an office space with many books lining built-in bookshelves. There is one bathroom with a clawfoot tub fitted with a showerhead, and two bedrooms -- one with a queen bed, and the other with two full beds, one lofted above the other. We've lived in this house for two decades and raised our two kids here. The house is like a member of the family to us and we hope to find renters who will treat it with the same affection and care that we have. Cats are wonderful in this house, but we cannot allow dogs because of the risk to damage to the long-leaf pine floors. While quirky, it is a comfortable and beautiful place to spend one's days.
