After a long day of conferences, campus meetings, or work, there is something genuinely restorative about walking into a place that is calm, bright, and entirely your own. This apartment in Berlin-Lichterfelde is exactly that. We don't live in Berlin right now, and rather than leave it empty, we're looking for someone who will enjoy it the way we do. The building has just six units on two floors (the apartment is on the second floor) and the neighborhood is overwhelmingly residential — meaning that when you close the door at night, the silence is real. Light is this apartment's defining quality. Mornings arrive in the bedroom and kitchen — the kind of soft, directional morning light that makes coffee or tea taste better. By evening it migrates to the living room. Fresh renovation, warm wooden floors — the apartment has that quality of feeling both new and immediately lived-in. The kitchen is fully equipped the way we set it up for ourselves — because we actually cook. There's a proper induction stove, a full oven (baking bread and cake is a weekend ritual for us; maybe it is for you too), a French press, kettle, toaster, a compact dishwasher, pots, pans, and all the small things we consider useful kitchen helpers. We also added a brand new washing machine with dryer function and the bathroom is completely new. The home office has a desk, a chair, two shelves for your files and laptop setup, and a desk lamp. You can open the large window between the office and the winter garden — a small details we love ourselves. Getting around is straightforward, and although the neighborhood is calm and residential, everything you could need is within very short reach. The bus stop for line M11 is a few seconds' walk from the building entrance — it takes you straight to FU Berlin's Campus Dahlem and the main library in around 30 minutes. Lichterfelde Ost S-Bahn station is six minutes on foot (or 2 stations by bus M11), and from there it's 15 minutes by train to Berlin Hauptbahnhof, which puts Humboldt University practically on your doorstep. A shopping mall is also six minutes away, and coffee shops and restaurants are genuinely around the corner. The neighbors — quiet, settled people — contribute to an atmosphere that is friendly but never intrusive. And should you ever need medical support, there are several pharmacies within walking distance, a well-regarded local hospital five minutes away by car, and the Charité — one of Germany's top university hospitals — just 3 km from the apartment.
