Charming doll's house on the immediate hills of Florence

La Casina, near Florence at first glance, reminds one exactly of a doll’s house of the kind, as children, we were desperate to climb into. Situated on the hills between Florence and Impruneta, the house sleeps up to 6 people in three double rooms. It is a typical minature Tuscan farmhouse with beams and old terracotta floor-tiles. On the ground floor there is the kitchen with a pretty fire-place (now not in use as very close to the dining table). There is a dishwasher, Nespresso machine and the kitchen is well equipped with cooking essentials. The sitting room with a fully functioning 15th century stone fireplace, leads into the small and homey dining room which sits up to 8 people. Also on the ground floor there is a fully equipped bathroom with a spacious shower . A staircase leads up to the bedrooms, two with super king-size beds (one can be made into two singles) and one King-size double. There at two bathrooms on the corridor which connects the rooms: one with shower and the other with a bath tub. There is also a tiny cosy reading room with a little balcony. A further flight of steps leads up to a second floor with a study and a roof top terrace which offers a magnificent 360 degree view over the Florentine hills with the Certosa Monastery in the foreground and the village of Impruneta to the rear. One can just see Florence’s famous Duomo ( or Cupola ) in the distance. In spring and summer the terrace is wonderful for al fresco dining or drinks and there is always a breeze even on hot summer evenings. The second floor also houses a small laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The Casina has an enclosed parking space for minimum 2 cars. La Casina is a magnificent place to explore Florence and Tuscany from, far from the madding crowds of the city, it is a 15 minute drive to Porta Romana, one of the main access gates to the old town. This makes it ideal in all seasons and due to its cosiness, even in winter when the fireplace provides extra special warmth. La casina is not ideal for people with mobility problems due to the stairs It makes an ideal retreat for someone wanting to write, read or study and a perfect base camp for exploring the region.
