I love my home and hope you will too! I'm heading to various academic posts and fellowships for several months, so am hoping to rent my three bedroom house in Richmond to a fellow academic or artist. Kitchen was recently remodeled and GREAT for cooking. Fantastic back yard, with firepit and and outdoor furniture. ART STUDIO: There is option of using the lovely 325 sqf standalone cottage in the backyard as your art studio or office. Inquire if interested. Looking for someone who's kind, thoughtful, tidy, who would maintain a peaceful atmosphere, and take great care of the home. It's not a house for big gatherings, parties, or lots of foot traffic. You will have the whole 1,800 square foot house to yourself for the entire 6 - 7 months. For a solo academic looking for a hybrid situation: If you are one person who's looking for a lot of space, I'm also open to renting it as a share for $2,200. You would have a suite of two rooms - a beautifully furnished private bedroom plus private workspace / office and I, the homeowner, would keep a bedroom there and be an occasional roommate. That said - I would rarely be there, and you'd mostly have the house to yourself 80% of the time. LOCATION: Eight minute walk to subway station that gets you all over the Bay, or a 20 minute drive to Oakland, 45 minute drive to Napa, 30-40 min drive to SF (depending on traffic). It's about $20 Uber to Oakland. NEIGHBORHOOD: The neighborhood is a mixture of quiet families and first time homeowners / ex San Francisco dwellers....it's chill, friendly, and multiracial...there's amazing mom and pop Mexican food within walking distance, and beaches and world class hiking within a ten minute drive. (Google Wildcat Canyon and Point Richmond for more info.) PARKING: Free street parking in front of house is usually abundant. UTILITIES: You would pay 50% of all utilities except for PGE, which would be split 90% 10%. PLANTS: Indoor plants will need weekly watering, ideal if you're good with plants. MINIMUM RENTAL: 3 month minimum rental, but 6 - 7 months would be ideal This would be a great situation for an academic who wants a ton of space for a very affordable price for the Bay Area. --- I am an academic and visual artist who's lived in the Bay for 25 years and travels often for film shoots and residencies. I'm fortunate to be part of a large, wonderful arts community in the Bay, so if you stay at my house, I will probably leave you a list of recommendations of places to check out, and neighbors you can reach out to. You'll have a head start in community support the moment you land here.
