144 sq/m apt in Schöneberg (with reduced rent in exchange for cat care)

Our large Berlin apartment is available from August 15th until December 15 in beautiful Schöneberg. The apartment is located on Gleditschstraße, a four-minute walk from the U7 at Eisenacher Str., and a 10-minute walk to the S1 at Julius-Leber-Brücke. Our apartment is in an historic building, third floor walk up, 144 sq meters. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with two sinks, laundry, bath, and shower, the other with shower). The apartment has a floor plan that divides it into a front and back half with the kitchen in the middle, which makes it very easy to share because it provides a lot of privacy. There is a large living room and kitchen, office, and beautiful balcony. Use of the office negotiable. The apartment is on a cul-de-sac with a park at the end and tall trees outside. It's extremely quiet, but also less than two blocks from Akazienstrasse/Golzstrasse, where you will find many shops, cafés, and restaurants. The wonderful Özgida Turkish supermarket is steps away, in addition to Rewe, Edeka, many organic markets and vegetable stands. It's a short walk to the open-air, twice-weekly Winterfeldt Market and the Turkish market as well. We have three cats (Shape, Shoo-In, and Laura, all under four years old) that you would care for while we are away, so the rent is very significantly reduced to far below market rate. We’d like renters who love cats and preferably have prior experience living with and caring for cats. Daily tasks include feeding them and scooping their litter boxes in the morning and evening, and on a prescribed schedule, cleaning litter boxes and renewing litter. We will have all the litter and food you will need stored in the apartment. Although obviously not anticipated, should there be the need, you should be comfortable putting a cat in a carrier and going to our vet very nearby, who speaks excellent English. Renters would need to be consistently in Berlin for the period of the rental, with no lengthy or frequent stretches of time away unless previously discussed and agreed upon. The apartment would be ideal for a single person who wants lots of space, or a couple, or two roommates. Non-smokers only. Besides caring for the cats, we'd ask you to water our plants once a week and take in the mail.
