Welcome to my apartment — a warm, cozy home on a quiet street less than a mile from the Old City and a 15-minute bus ride from downtown. The apartment features a main bedroom with a queen-size bed and ample closet space, a second bedroom/living room with an armchair and pullout couch, and a kitchen-dining room with spacious countertops and modern appliances. Each room has an air conditioning/heating unit, and the bedrooms also have fans. Wake up to the sound of the birds and faint singing wafting through the open windows on Saturday mornings; finish the day with a cup of tea in a rocking chair on the porch under the stars, from where you can just make out the glow of Amman on the horizon. The building has three floors and eight apartments; the other tenants are friendly and most speak English. We share a storage space and bomb shelter in the basement. The apartment is on the second floor (first floor in Israeli/European numbering) of a building on a quiet street abutting a charming park with a grass lawn, fish pond, and playground. We are located in Talbiya, one of Jerusalem's most sought-after residential neighborhoods, nestled between Rehavia and the German Colony. Three blocks from the Jerusalem Theater, and six blocks from the shops, restaurants, and bars of Aza Street and Emek Refaim. Both Hebrew University campuses are reachable within half an hour by bus. The landlord has consented to a sublet and has been quick to respond to maintenance needs. I will be away on sabbatical until late February, though I have some flexibility on my return date. I am also open to tenants who need the apartment for only part of this eight-month period.
