Offering approximately 1,200 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space, this private lower-level residence features one spacious bedroom, a dedicated office that can also serve as a second bedroom, two updated ¾ bathrooms (each with a walk-in shower), a private entrance, and a large exclusive-use patio surrounded by mature landscaping. My wife and I live upstairs and have taken great care to create a comfortable, peaceful home for someone who will truly appreciate it. This has been my family home since 1979, and I feel fortunate to have grown up here and continue living in this wonderful home and neighborhood. Our goal is to provide more than simply a furnished apartment—we want to offer a welcoming residence where you can settle in, focus on your work, and experience the Bay Area from a place that has meant so much to our family. Interestingly, before my parents purchased the home in 1979, the downstairs residence was rented to UC Berkeley students and professors from the late 1960s through 1979. It seems fitting that it is once again welcoming members of the university community. The apartment is fully furnished and thoughtfully equipped for an extended stay with quality furnishings, a large Sony Smart TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, a fully stocked kitchen, coffee maker, electric kettle, slow cooker, waffle maker, cookware, dishes, books, games, puzzles, and everything needed to simply arrive with your suitcase. The dedicated office provides an ideal workspace for teaching, research, writing, or remote work. Large windows bring in abundant natural light, while the expansive private patio offers a peaceful setting for morning coffee, outdoor dining, reading, or relaxing after a busy day. Monthly rent includes high-speed internet, electricity, gas, water, garbage service, routine landscaping, and professional monthly housekeeping. Shared laundry facilities are located in the garage and are available with flexible scheduling. The Arlington is especially well suited for visiting UC Berkeley faculty, researchers, postdoctoral scholars, medical professionals, traveling nurses, executives, and other professionals seeking a quiet, well-appointed home for a 9–12 month stay. Well-behaved cats or small dog may be considered with owner approval and monthly pet rent. No smoking or vaping is permitted anywhere on the property.
