Welcome to your private home away from home in the heart of Ahwatukee, one of Phoenix's most desirable residential neighborhoods. Whether you are a visiting scholar, faculty member, graduate student, researcher, remote professional, or someone relocating to the Phoenix area, this newly renovated private casita offers a comfortable, peaceful, and independent living environment designed for extended stays. The casita is situated on the property of my home, where I live with my young adult kids (in and out of the house). I am on the music faculty at Arizona State University, and I enjoy welcoming guests from around the world. While the casita offers complete privacy with its own entrance, I'm always happy to answer questions, help guests become familiar with the area, or offer recommendations if needed. Many of my neighbors are interesting professionals, and the neighborhood is known for its quiet streets, friendly atmosphere, and strong sense of community. The thoughtfully designed casita offers an efficient, open layout that makes excellent use of every square foot. The sleeping area includes a comfortable queen-size bed, generous closet space, and storage suitable for longer stays. The kitchenette is equipped for everyday living with a two-burner cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, apartment-size refrigerator, coffee maker, ice machine, and basic kitchen essentials. A folding table easily converts between dining, remote work, or study space, then folds neatly away to create additional room for yoga, stretching, or relaxation. High-speed Wi-Fi, streaming television, and all utilities are included, making it easy to settle in whether you are working remotely, teaching, writing, or simply enjoying an extended visit. Guests have a private entrance and are welcome to enjoy the shared backyard, including the swimming pool, patio seating, and grill/smoker (pool use is coordinated in advance). Three friendly resident dogs share the outdoor spaces and are an important part of the household. Because of them, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate additional pets. One of the property's greatest features is its location. The back gate opens directly to a wash that leads to the hiking trails of South Mountain Park, providing immediate access to miles of hiking, running, and mountain biking trails. Despite this connection to nature, grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, shopping, and everyday conveniences are all within a few minutes' drive. Loop 202 and Interstate 10 are nearby, making travel throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area simple and convenient. Arizona State University's Tempe campus, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Downtown Tempe, Chandler, and Old Town Scottsdale are all within easy reach, making the casita an excellent home base for visiting faculty, researchers, graduate students, and professionals working throughout the Valley. My goal is to provide more than simply a furnished rental. I hope to offer a quiet, welcoming, and thoughtfully maintained home where guests can focus on their work, enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, and feel comfortably settled during their time in Arizona.
