This is a dearly beloved flat. We purchased it while expecting to settle down permanently, since one of us was working at the University of Glasgow. Then life got in the way, and the other of us landed a job in Toronto, where we ended up moving. But we remain so attached to Glasgow that we're keeping some roots here. We are renting out the flat during the academic year and returning for summers. The flat is in a historic tenement building typical of Glasgow, in the lovely Garnethill neighborhood. It’s perfectly located between the West End (Univ. of Glasgow) and the City Centre (Univ, of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow School of Art). All are easily accessible, within 30 mins' walk or 15 mins on bus/subway, and quicker via bicycle. We are 2 mins' walking from Cowcaddens subway station, 5 mins from the bustling Sauchiehall Street, and 10 mins from the Buchanan Street, the biggest main street in the city centre. You can find all your essentials on Sauchiehall Street: the nearest grocery (Tesco) is 4 mins' walk away, and there are other grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, clothing/retail all along the street. We are 10 mins' walk from Buchanan Bus Station, 15 mins from Queen St. Station, and 15 mins from Glasgow Central Station. These are the main points for traveling everywhere else - there's a 30-min shuttle to the airport, Edinburgh is a 45-min train ride from Queen St. Station, and so on. From Glasgow Central it's easy to cross the river to the South Side. Many of Glasgow's most beautiful and iconic places are also close by: you can reach Kelvingrove Park, George Square, and the River Clyde all within 20 mins' walking, and the Cathedral and Necropolis in 30 mins. Garnethill Park, the only green space in the city centre, is just one block over. As for the flat itself: we renovated and touched up much of it ourselves - bathroom, floors, etc - so most of the rooms are in very good condition. The one exception is the kitchen, which has old counters and shelving. But the appliances are mostly new; we put in the induction stovetop ourselves. There’s a half-size refrigerator and full-size freezer. You are welcome to use our full set of crockery and utensils, as well as small appliances (microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, air fryer, 12-function Instant Pot, portable induction hob). There's a washing machine, and an old-fashioned hanging drying rack plus large foldable rack. As per historical use, in the other half of the kitchen there is an additional trundle bed that can be set to two singles or one double bed — great for visitors! In the lounge (living room), the pull-out sofa also converts to a double bed. There is a 55" television and a reclining reading chair with a rolling laptop desk. There is a work station with a height-adjustable standing desk set-up, which includes an extra monitor, keyboard, and mouse. There is also a Mac desktop and printer. There's enough space in the lounge to do yoga (and we have two mats). You're welcome to use of all of these. The bathroom has an electric shower with bathtub, multi-tier towel rack, shelf, and mirror cabinet. Linens (comforters, sheets, towels) are all there for you to use. The bedroom has a UK king (US queen) size bed. We are keeping a large number of our personal belongings in the flat, but these will be packed out of the way. There's still plenty of storage space: a large 3-door wardrobe and full-size shelf in the bedroom, two cupboards (and a few empty bookcase shelves) in the lounge, plus a large shelf and shoe/coatrack in the entryway. We are on what’s considered the first floor in the UK (second story above the ground floor), which is unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible. There's a communal backyard with some grass and a picnic table. Pets are welcome (assuming they're well-trained enough not to damage things!). If you have any questions, please do send a message! We love our flat, and hope you will too.

Comments: Since we will be overseas, we have a strong preference for tenants who can stay for at least an entire academic term, or ideally an academic year. That said, our dates are quite flexible, especially as regards what counts as the "academic year"!
