Description

Minimum stay: 6 months Welcome to our Florentine home. Located on quiet Via Fiesolana, just a few minutes from the historic and lively Sant'Ambrogio Market, our apartment offers the opportunity to experience Florence as residents do: shopping daily at neighborhood markets (the best fruits and vegetable kiosk is one minute away), walking everywhere, and becoming part of a community. The apartment is particularly well suited for visiting faculty, researchers, writers, artists, professionals, and couples seeking a comfortable, authentic home during a semester or academic year in Florence. The Apartment The apartment occupies the third floor of a beautifully preserved seventeenth-century Florentine building with a spacious frescoed entrance hall and an elegant historic staircase. Inside, approximately 63 m² (680 sq ft) are arranged over two levels, creating a bright and airy living environment with exposed wooden beams, oak floors, generous storage, and excellent natural light throughout the day. The apartment comfortably accommodates two people and includes: one loft bedroom two full bathrooms generous closet and storage space a comfortable living room with workspace a fully equipped kitchen a sofa bed for occasional guests The kitchen is compact but functional. While it features a small refrigerator and does not include a dishwasher, it is designed for everyday cooking and it's fully equipped. You can see the top of Brunelleschi’s Dome from the kitchen window. Living in Sant'Ambrogio Sant'Ambrogio is one of Florence's most authentic and desirable neighborhoods. Less touristy than the areas immediately surrounding the Duomo, it has retained the atmosphere of a true Florentine community while remaining only a short walk from the city's major museums, libraries, universities, and monuments. The historic Mercato di Sant'Ambrogio is just around the corner and has long been one of Florence's favorite food markets. Nearby you'll also find an exceptional neighborhood greengrocer in San Pierino, artisan bakeries, specialty food shops, and excellent local butchers. Some of Florence's most celebrated restaurants—including the various Cibrèo restaurants, café, trattoria, and Asian-inspired concept—are within a few minutes' walk, as is Ditta Artigianale, an outstanding specialty coffee shop housed in a former convent that has become a favorite place to read, write, or work outside the apartment. A Home Designed for Academic Life This is not a vacation rental. It is the home where in the future we see ourself enjoy spending extended periods in Florence, and it has been furnished for comfortable everyday living. The apartment offers several inviting places to read and work, abundant storage for a long stay, all the bookshelves you can hope for, and a calm atmosphere that makes it particularly suitable for research, writing, and remote work. A Quiet Residential Building One of the apartment's greatest strengths is the building itself. Unlike many buildings in Florence's historic center, this is a quiet residential building occupied primarily by long-term Florentine residents. Short-term vacation rentals are forbidden in this building. The peaceful atmosphere is something we value deeply and hope to preserve. For this reason, we are looking for responsible, considerate tenants who will enjoy living as part of the community and who appreciate a respectful residential environment.
