## Welcome to Our Home in the Mountains of Ancient Caria After spending more than twenty-five years living and working abroad in higher education, we returned to Türkiye to create a quieter, more meaningful way of life. Drawn by the beauty of the mountains above Milas and our passion for olive cultivation, we lovingly restored this traditional village home and planted roots in a community we now proudly call home. Olive trees have become an important part of our lives. We produce our own award-winning extra virgin olive oil, recognised with a Gold Medal, and the mature olive trees surrounding the house remind us every day why we chose this special place. This is not a house that has been furnished simply as a holiday rental. It is our home. Over the years we have collected artwork, books and decorative pieces from the many countries where we have lived and travelled, creating a warm, elegant and welcoming space filled with personality. Every room has been thoughtfully designed to be comfortable, practical and inspiring. The house accommodates up to six guests and is fully equipped with everything needed for a short visit or an extended stay. The kitchen includes all modern appliances, the internet connection is fast and reliable, and both the indoor and outdoor living areas have been furnished for comfort. A spacious terrace overlooks the surrounding mountains, while the mature garden, with its olive trees, flowering plants and peaceful seating areas, provides the perfect place to read, write, work or simply relax. Because this is our personal home, we hope to welcome guests who will appreciate it as much as we do. We are particularly suited to archaeologists, university researchers, writers, artists, remote professionals and anyone seeking an authentic village experience in beautiful surroundings. Longer stays are especially welcome, allowing guests to settle into the rhythm of village life and enjoy everything the region has to offer. Above all, we ask our guests to treat the house with the same care and respect they would their own home. We have invested a great deal of love, time and attention into creating this special place, and we hope those who stay here will enjoy it, care for it and leave it as beautiful as they found it. ## Discover the Heart of Ancient Caria Our home is ideally located in the historic region of Ancient Caria, one of the Aegean's richest yet least crowded archaeological landscapes. Within a short drive is the magnificent sanctuary of **Labraunda**, one of Türkiye's most important ancient religious sites, set high in the mountains among pine forests and dramatic granite boulders. Other remarkable ancient cities, including **Euromos**, **Iasos**, **Heraclea by Latmus**, **Priene**, **Didyma**, **Miletus** and **Stratonikeia**, are all within easy reach, making the house an excellent base for archaeologists, researchers and history enthusiasts. The nearby town of **Milas** is itself steeped in history and is home to one of Türkiye's finest regional archaeological museums. The Milas Museum houses exceptional artefacts from the ancient civilisations of Caria and offers fascinating insights into the people who once inhabited this remarkable landscape. Beyond its archaeological treasures, the region offers traditional Turkish villages, local markets, olive groves and spectacular mountain scenery. The beautiful Aegean coastline, with its secluded coves, beaches and fishing villages, is also just a short drive away, providing the perfect balance between cultural exploration and relaxation.
