I am a retired teacher and artist native to Cape Ann, residing in Nashville at present. My background is in the arts, music and languages. I love to travel and am interested in people from different parts of the world. Cape Ann has a long cultural history, which includes fishing, granite quarrying as well as tourism. It has a vital and vibrant arts community. (Cape Ann Museum, Manship Artists Residency, Gloucester Stage, Windhover Performing Arts, etc) Writers and artists have been drawn there for almost 200 years. It is an easy hour long train ride from Boston, giving one access to intellectual and cultural life there as well. My preference is to stay in my condo for about 6 weeks in the summer, leaving it available to rent the rest of the year. I have a few antiques, so would like a tenant who is mature and conscientious. My home is fully furnished, with a complete kitchen, twin beds, shared washer and dryer. What I most love about this place is its proximity to the ocean and public footpaths. Daily walks there always restore my well being and feeling of peace. It also suits me well in terms of the comfort of having neighbors as well as sense of privacy. Rockport is gorgeous all year round, especially so from April through October. January and February tend to be the hardest months. In those months Rockport can feel a bit remote. The building is close to the main road around the ‘island’ and so on summer weekends the traffic can be annoying. But nights are quiet. The building was built in the 1800’s so great care is placed on avoiding candles and smoking. It’s a rare and charming place to be.
