Quiet Apartment In The Best West End Neighbourhood!

We are two teachers who love taking advantage of all the city's fun events, vibrant night life, and exceptional food and arts scene...but at the same time enjoy escaping to our peaceful, quiet home to read and get to bed early. Our street has a strong community vibe, where you rarely take a walk without running into a friendly face or helpful neighbour. Our first (and only) tenant stayed for five years, and we would like to find another person to build a positive, collaborative relationship with, where we each feel comfortable asking to take in a delivered package or bring out the garbage bins if one of us happens to be away. The apartment on offer is a large, one-bedroom basement unit that is completely self-contained and private, with its own separate entrance. We occupy the main and upper floors. While the home is completely renovated, it was originally built in 1867, and the first (farm) house on the street. It has since been severed into two semi-detached family homes - our attached neighbour is an older couple living with their elderly father, so there isn't any risk of undue noise. The apartment is large and bright, but unfortunately the lighting is mostly from overhead rather than natural sunlight. We are flexible with move in/out dates, and would set up a formal lease agreement. We are also open to furnishing the apartment with kitchen utensils/dinnerware, a mattress for the existing frame, etc., if required. The apartment is accessed down the side and around back of the house, which is well-lit with motion sensor lighting. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet. If you are not familiar with the area, we are happy to provide info and recommendations. It was recently rated one of the best neighborhoods to live in (Time Out), as it boasts a great art scene, has a plethora of restaurants and bars, and proximity to parks, transit, gyms, shops, bakeries, and grocery stores. There are two public libraries within walking distance as well. As mentioned previously, we have a large dog who loves all people. She only barks if a stranger comes up to the door (e.g mail delivery). It would be ideal if a tenant also loves dogs and might agree to letting her out in case of emergency or taking her in if you need some company! We are often away on weekends or take the occasional longer trip. We usually take our dog along or arrange for pet-sitting (perhaps that can also be you?). Overall, we are quiet, independent, and respectful, and are looking for the same. We also take pride in our home and are quite handy (teacher in trades and Master Electrician), so if there are any issues we like to address things expediently and appropriately.
