Spacious & Bright Majorstua Home with Two Workspaces

Our apartment is perfectly located in the quiet and leafy “village” of Majorstuen, yet downtown is just a few minutes away. You can either walk down the popular Bogstadveien and through the beautiful Palace Park (about 30 minutes), or take the metro one stop (about 15 minutes). The closest metro station is Majorstuen, which is served by all metro lines and is only a ten-minute walk from the apartment. Just two minutes away, you will find several bus lines, including No. 20, which crosses the city. Oslo University Hospital is two stops away by bus, or about a 15-minute walk. Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) and the University of Oslo (Blindern) are both about a 20-minute walk away. The Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) is a 10-minute walk away, and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) is only five minutes away. The beautiful Frogner Park and Vigeland Park, with its more than 200 sculptures, are also within walking distance (about 15 minutes). We also have easy access to the Nordmarka Forest by metro. Nordmarka is very popular for hiking and cycling, with lots of trails and many cabins where you can stop for coffee or a meal, or even stay overnight. It is also possible to start a hike directly from our apartment. Our spacious and bright home is on the third floor of a beautiful building dating from 1905, and we have tried to stay true to its history when refurbishing and decorating. You will find historic stucco and period wallpaper combined with modern appliances. The high ceilings (more than 3 metres) add to the feeling of space. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with everything you need for a short stay, including bed linen and towels. The two bedrooms are small but bright and quiet. There is a dedicated workspace in the smallest bedroom, with a high desk and saddle chair, a screen and a computer keyboard. Under the desk, there is a “hidden” musical keyboard for arranging music or composing. The other workspace is in one of the two large living rooms. This is also where the grand piano and fireplace are located. The spacious living rooms make it easy to work or read while others are watching TV, etc. The kitchen has a long dining table that can easily seat ten people. There is direct access from the kitchen to the balcony, which is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee outside on a sunny summer day. Our Falcon/Rangemaster stove has an induction hob, two separate ovens and a built-in grill. A few steps down the back stairs, you will find a separate, small laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. The back stairs also lead down to our quiet and green backyard. This apartment would be ideal for a couple or a family of three. The area is family-friendly, with schools and parks nearby. It would also be perfect for academics, researchers, artists or others spending some time in Oslo for work, study or inspiration. We will be spending a couple of months in London, taking some time away to get new creative input. We ideally prefer a two-month stay and are happy to share local recommendations and help make your stay in Oslo as comfortable as possible. Who we are We both work in the arts — Gudrun as a stage director and Hallgrim as a musician and music teacher. The character of the apartment reflects our creative way of living. We love our apartment and are looking for someone who will enjoy it as much as we do and treat it with care and respect. It is a home rather than a rental property, and we hope to find someone who appreciates its character and the experience of living in a real Oslo home.
