This is our unique garden apartment by the sea - in an historic Regency Square, spacious and peaceful for work and relaxing, but only one hour to London (and 70 mins to London St Pancras) by train and easy for UCL, LSHTM, SOAS and all the Bloomsbury London University campus. We cannot be here all the time due to teaching and work commitments in London, so are sharing our space with fellow academics who may need some time in a calm beautiful environment ideal for writing, walking, swimming, and thinking. Our seaside home is a Grade 1 listed flat in one of the most iconic Regency squares of Brighton and Hove - Brunswick Square. Our flat is in the old kitchens and servants quarters, with high ceilings and an enormous fireplace - now with fully double glazed high windows and shutters, and a fireplace with an ecological electric stove. The kitchen is architect designed with integrated appliances including Bosch Combi microwave/Hot Air/ and Hot air grilling oven; Baumatic hob; dishwasher; washing machine; fridge and freezer. The light-filled bedroom is a mezzanine floor with skylights, a Japanese tatami and memory foam double bed, and with wardrobes and an office below. The bathroom echoes the seaside location with blue features and stained glass windows. A wonderful aspect of this flat for us is that, along with the unique light-filled inside spaces, it has two beautiful private split level patio gardens for working and relaxing outside, one just outside the dining space doors for intimate breakfast or dinner, and a sun deck with dining table and parasol for sunnier moments and space. To add to the privacy there is a separate entrance to the flat through the gardens. The flat is only a 2 minute walk to the seafront and the wonderful quiet beaches of Hove, but also less than two minutes walk to the multicultural shops, music venues, restaurants and bars of Brighton and Hove. Brighton Railway Station is a lovely 20 minute walk through regency roads and parks or 10 minute bus ride. This would suit any academic or PhD/post doc student wanting a quiet space to write, and relax by the sea, with easy access to London, and a mix of the benefits of vibrant urban culture and the beach.
