Enjoy the entire first floor of our sun-filled historic kit house on a quiet, tree-lined street in Takoma Park, a half block from the border with Washington, DC. The first floor has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a kitchen, living room, dining room, and a screened porch. The house retains many of its 1920s details, like wood flooring, and is up to date with Wi-Fi, solar panels, and, importantly, central AC. We live upstairs and share the laundry in the basement (with separate entrances), as well as the backyard and porch. We’re three blocks from the Takoma Metro. Three blocks in the other direction is Takoma Park’s small, walkable town center with independent restaurants and cafes, a food coop, bookstore, butcher, bakeries, and neighborhood shops. Just across the DC line are more cafés and restaurants and a neighborhood jazz club. There is a good range of food within a few blocks including Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, Ethiopian, Korean-fusion and Middle Eastern. It’s a particularly nice place to work or write. In addition to the workspace and Wi-Fi at home, three public libraries and numerous coffee houses are within about a mile—handy when you want a change of scenery or simply want to work around other people. There’s also plenty of green space in the neighborhood. Sligo Creek Park lies in one direction and Rock Creek Park in the other, with miles of routes for walking, running and biking. Public tennis and pickleball courts and a DC community pool are nearby. Downtown Silver Spring, with the AFI Silver Theatre, restaurants, shops and additional Metro service, is about a mile away. The redeveloped Walter Reed campus is also nearby, with Whole Foods, restaurants and community events.

Comments: The house is a five minute walk to the metro, and in the neighborhood there are good restaurants (Cielo Rojo!), bars, jazz club, and a food coop.
