The Ora Ora Retreat is surrounded by the Kerikeri River nature reserve and overlooks the Kerikeri Basin with the historical Stone Store and Mission House. Five villas are nestled within the certified organic permaculture gardens: Villa Rosella is a studio bungalow and Villa Morepork, Villa Kiwi and Villa Heron are cozy 1-bedroom bungalows suitable for 1 or 2 persons, while House Tui has 2 bedrooms for up to 4 persons. All Villas are fully furnished and self-contained. It's an ideal setting for a well deserved sabbatical or time-out for people who appreciate a peaceful and ecologically responsible life. Owners Inge & Rolf welcome short and long term guests at Ora Ora and offer any kind of assistance. It's a great place to get to know people in unfamiliar surroundings. Obviously, privacy is granted if preferred. Sauna, spa bath or oscillation massage can be made available at the natural Wellness Centre. Off-street parking is available. At Ora Ora we aim for the smallest possible footprint without much of an impact on comfort and luxury: solar hot water heater, photovoltaic panels with grid connection to produce most of electricity consumed, electric car and bikes, waste minimisation, recycling, energy saving, non chemical cleaning products, natural insulation, rainwater harvest with excellent filtration and wastewater treatment to irrigate the gardens with a large variety of vegetables, fruits and nuts, etc. Ora Ora is a perfect base to explore the numerous attractions of Kerikeri, Bay of Islands and Northland, and we can recommend many of the regional attractions we have experienced ourselves. Kerikeri town offers all we need, including shops, restaurants, vineyards, library, cultural centre, historical buildings, nature reserves, tracks, golf course, polytechnic, flying school, and lots of other useful opportunities. Kerikeri Airport (40 minutes to Auckland) and bus stop (4 hours to Auckland) are close, and your hosts offer complimentary pick-up. Ora Ora Retreat is surrounded by the historic Kerikeri River Nature Reserve with New Zealand's oldest wooden and stone buildings across the river. There is a direct access to the popular Rainbow Falls Track (one hour one way) to the 26m Rainbow Falls through "Lord-of-the-Rings" like forest. Numerous native birds are offering their chorus. Whether you are looking for a sabbatical place to recharge, relax, recuperate, re-link with interesting people, research the popular Bay of Islands and Far North, write or finish a book, a private villa at Ora Ora is an ideal location for a couple of weeks or months at an affordable price. If you don't have so much time available, don't hesitate to contact us for a different deal.
