This boutique apartment is a converted 1920s Art Deco office block located in the heart of Melbourne’s central business district in 'Henty House'. The location is truly amazing. The building is central to Melbourne’s main attractions including great restaurants, bars, galleries and architecture. Embrace inner city living! One month into her stay a recent guest email us to say: "...I continue to love this place and the location. I was able to step out my door and partake in all of the White Nights festivities. Swimming at the public baths, shopping at the Queen Victoria market, Tango in Glen Iris, Flamenco on Gertrude Street and Bollywood in Fitzroy…” The apartment is thoughtful decorated with contemporary decor. It has a spacious floor plan with one large bedroom, bathroom (with laundry), a separate kitchen, a large living area and small balcony. The windows on the bedroom are double glazed to control sound and temperature. The apartment has heating and ceiling fans (no air conditioning but because of the orientation and building mass it stays cool in summer). Other amenities in the building include secure entrance with video intercom, a gym and bike storage (in basement). The apartment sleeps 2, but can accommodate up to 2 additional guests on a sofa bed in the lounge area. The bedroom has a queen size bed with a premium mattress, hotel quality linen and a choice of 6 pillows of varying levels of firmness (2 x latex, 2 x duck feathers and 2 x wool). Additional bedding has been provided in the linen cupboard. If you are traveling with child, or a baby we can provide amenities to make your life easier (baby change table, child sized mattress and high chair with plastic dishes). The kitchen appliances are new with stainless steel finishes. You will find an electric oven/cook top/grill, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a large selection of dishes and utensils. The dining table can be easily extended to accommodate six people. The apartment is perfectly located in the heart of the Melbourne’s central business district and is in walking distance to restaurants, shops, RMIT University and the University of Melbourne. Your best option for getting around Melbourne is public transport. The area is very well serviced by public transport and is located inside the 'free tram zone', which allows you to travel at no cost on trams within the CBD. The closest tram stop to the apartment is Bourke Street on Williams Street. The closest major train station is 'Southern Cross' which is a 6-8-minute walk and connects trains to the Skybus ($18 one-way if booked online) to Melbourne Domestic and International Airports. The apartment has not been allocated a dedicated car parking space, however there are a limited number of casual parking spaces in Henty Lane where you may park (with displayed permit) for a maximum of 3 hours between 7am-7pm Monday to Friday. If you need a car, flexi-car has over a dozen cars parked in the surrounding area that can be hired by the hour. The apartment is connected to the National Broadband Network (NBN) with unlimited data and Tier 1 speeds of 12Mbps for downloads and of 5Mbps for uploads. These are standard Australian internet speeds. Passwords will be provided upon check-in. The area is well serviced by large and small supermarkets. To get you started we will supply a start-up kit of tea, coffee, milk, oil, salt, pepper and other miscellaneous items. On Saturday & Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the famous Queen Victoria Market operates where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, meat and seafood at great prices. You can walk to the market in 10 minutes or catch a free tram. We have provided a trolley for transporting your shopping. From January 2020 rent is $680 AUD per week, inclusive of all ongoing costs. A refundable bond is required to secure the apartment (returned within one week of your departure). We cannot guarantee the booking until this deposit has been received and guest's identification verified (only Government issued ID such as a passport or driver's license). My husband and I take great pride in offering excellent service. Henty house has been maintained as a rental property exclusively for the academic community since 2013. To date we have hosted 20+ guests for periods of 2 weeks to 12 months from Japan, China, Canada, USA, Singapore, Italy, Turkey, England, Ireland and Australia.
