Seeking Home in Israel

Thank you for taking the time to read my inquiry. My husband and I are looking for a two-bedroom home, apartment, cottage, guest house, or other long-term rental beginning around July 15. We are flexible regarding the exact move-in date and length of stay, and we are open to discussing arrangements that might work well for both parties. We are considering two general areas: 1. Jerusalem – preferably in a neighborhood with convenient access to the light rail or public transportation so that we can easily reach appointments and services without depending entirely on a car. 2. The Israeli desert – particularly communities where there is a strong sense of community, beautiful natural surroundings, and a peaceful environment. We have been spending time in the Arava and have been enjoying the desert lifestyle very much. One of our most important requirements is safety. We are specifically looking for a property that has either: * A mamad (protected room) within the home, or * Immediate and convenient access to a properly maintained bomb shelter. Because of the current security situation, this is not something on which we can compromise. A little about us: We are a mature married couple who made aliyah and have been living in Israel for several years. We are quiet, responsible, non-smoking tenants who treat homes with great care and respect. We are not looking for a party atmosphere or a vacation setting. Rather, we are looking for a comfortable and peaceful place where we can live, work, and become part of the local community. My husband and I both work on personal and professional projects from home, so a quiet environment is important to us. Reliable internet is highly desirable. We appreciate places that are calm, well maintained, and suitable for reading, writing, studying, and remote work. Ideally, we are looking for: * Two bedrooms * Muzgans in bedrooms * Reliable internet * A quiet setting * Access to parking if in the desert * A furnished or partially furnished property (although we are flexible) * A bomb shelter or mamad We are open-minded about many details and are happy to discuss possibilities that may not meet every item on our wish list.
