Description
I am seeking a safe landing space for myself and two cats this fall where I can focus on finishing my Masters program and explore the City before settling down in my own apartment to start the next chapter in Chicago! As an LGBTQ graduate student, having a buffer outside of Texas will help me focus all my attention on my studies, as well as hopefully building a professional network in Chicago to ease my transition after I graduate in December.

About Me
I am a current Masters student finishing a degree in Applied Sociology. I plan to graduate in December 2026, and will spend the Fall semester completing my practicum remotely with the Southern Equality Research and Policy Center. I am returning to graduate school after some time in the workforce, and have a previous Masters degree in Performance Studies. I have been planning to move to Chicago after graduation. But, since my Fall courses are virtual and asynchronous, I would like to spend a few months getting to know the area and securing a full-time job in the City before committing to a longer-term lease agreement. I am very interested in the work being done within the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern, and I hope that being local will allow me to build some connections there. I have two cats which I would be bringing along with me. Some of my hobbies include: cooking/baking, crafting (crochet, sewing, quilting, embroidery), theatre, and yoga. I am tidy and quiet and open to house sitting as well as short or medium term tenancy.

Comments: I would prefer to settle in before my academic semester starts on August 19. I could commit to as soon as August 1 and am open to a six month stay or possibly up to the full academic year for a great fit
