Incoming Howard Professor Seeking DC Home for Fall Transition

Tenant Looking for a Home in Washington, DC, United States
Monthly Budget: Maximum USD $2500

Looking for Private Space or Entire Home | Open to House Sitting
Tenant Timing: From September 1, 2026

Description

Hello! I’m relocating to Washington, DC to begin my new role as an Associate Professor at Howard University after earning tenure and spending several years on the faculty at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. As I make this transition, I’m looking for a place to call home while I become familiar with the city and determine where I’d like to live long term. Because I’m taking the time to find the right neighborhood and the right fit, I’m intentionally open to furnished, partially furnished, and unfurnished homes, as well as house sits, home shares, and traditional rentals. My work is centered around teaching, research, writing, and mentoring students. My schedule is predictable, and when I’m not on campus, I’m usually preparing lectures, grading, writing, or working on research projects from home. I value peaceful surroundings and will treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own. I’ve been a homeowner for many years, so I understand both the practical responsibilities and the pride that come with caring for a home. I’m dependable, respectful, and communicative, and I appreciate the trust involved in welcoming someone into your space. Outside of work, I enjoy museums, exploring neighborhoods, reading, trying local restaurants, attending cultural events, and spending time with friends. I already have a wonderful network of friends and colleagues in the DC area, so this move is both a professional opportunity and a chance to reconnect with a community I’ve come to know over the years. My son is away at college as a student-athlete and may occasionally visit during academic breaks or as his game schedule allows, but I will be the primary occupant. Reliable internet and a comfortable workspace are important, and I’m flexible on lease length and move dates as I make this transition. I’m happy to provide professional, personal, and homeowner references upon request. If you think your home might be a good fit, I’d love to connect. Thank you for considering my listing!

About Me

Hello! I’m an incoming Associate Professor at Howard University, relocating to DC after seven years at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Rather than rushing into a long-term lease, I’m looking for a comfortable home while I get to know the city and decide where I’d like to put down roots. My schedule is predictable and centered around teaching, research, writing, and mentoring students. When I’m not on campus, I spend my time preparing classes, grading, reading, or working on research projects. I value peaceful surroundings and treat every home with the same care and respect I would my own. As a longtime homeowner, I understand the responsibility of caring for a property. I’m dependable, organized, and attentive to detail, whether that means collecting mail, watering plants, or ensuring a home is well maintained as either a renter or exchange/house sitter.. Outside of work, I enjoy museums, exploring neighborhoods, trying new restaurants, reading, live music and cultural events. I have a wonderful network of friends and colleagues in the DC area and may occasionally have a friend over, but my lifestyle is generally quiet and low-key. My son attends college as a student-athlete and may occasionally visit during holidays or academic breaks, depending on his game schedule. I believe in open communication and am happy to provide regular updates for your peace of mind if in a house sitting or exchange arrangement.
