We are a mother-daughter household looking for a peaceful, welcoming home in the Cambridge/Somerville/Arlington/Watertown area for the 2026-2027 academic year (late Aug through May/June), with flexibility. I am a graduate student through Harvard's Extension School and founder of a consultancy (GaiaAllies) focused on AI advisory and training. I have worked remotely for the past decade and am quiet, mostly reading, writing, and on video calls. My daughter is 17, a recent high school graduate (a year early), a genuine animal lover currently enrolled in a veterinary assistant program. She is calm, thoughtful, respectful, and deeply attentive to the care of any living thing in her presence. She is looking forward to relocating back to the area so she can work on her dog grooming training, take community college courses, and be more integrated in her sport of figure skating. We are joined by Mollie, our beloved senior Border Collie adoptee. She is 40 pounds, spayed, house-trained, gentle, and very easy-going. As a senior dog she is quiet, low-energy, and content to nap most of the day. We keep her well-groomed and up-to-date on all vet care. She prefers to hang home in quiet parts of the house. Our son/brother (18) will be attending university, and may come to a few times over the course of the next year. What We Offer as Tenants We treat any home we occupy with the same care we would want extended to our own. We are non-smokers, quiet neighbors, and detail-oriented about upkeep. We are also happy to look after plants, mail, or a garden if that is helpful to you. If you have your own animals staying behind, Elissa would consider it a privilege to care for them. She is experienced in medication management, shelter care, and has worked with even the most challenging dogs. We are also homeowners, leasing out our home, and understand what's required. We can provide references as needed. Amy holds renters insurance and can provide proof of coverage. What We Are Looking For A furnished or partially furnished home with two bedrooms or a comfortable layout that gives us each our own space. Access to public transportation, walkability, and neighborhood character matter more to us than newness or luxury. Proximity to Harvard, a T stop (preferably red line) within reasonable walking distance, and a pet-friendly welcome are our top priorities. We are open to Cambridge and the surrounding areas. Under $3,500/month is our target range. Why We Are Doing This Amy is deepening her Harvard studies and building her consultancy. Elissa is exploring the Boston area as her next chapter after considering programs in the South, and is drawn to the region's veterinary and animal welfare community. We would love to be temporary stewards of a home you love while you are away. Contact Amy Adams (617) 899-1949 adamsamyclaire@gmail.com
