Description
I'm looking for a place where I might hear Douglas squirrels scolding and birds chattering. Where I can hike, identify and sketch native plants, and find inspiration for new poems and essays. Often it would just be me finding my head and learning to write again. My husband, Bob, would join me when he is able. He runs the nonprofit that we started in 2015, which still takes a lot of time. We also have a gentle 30# Australian Labradoodle, Luna, who would accompany us. Bob is originally from Vancouver and I’m a Seattleite. We live in a cottage community in Redmond, WA and would spend time in both places.

About Me
My husband Bob and I founded a nonprofit in 2015 offering social "clubs" for people living with dementia, while providing respite to their family caregivers. In its current iteration, we teach others to open these clubs in their own community. There are now 11 clubs operating or starting soon, and we continue to grow the network. That keeps us busy! We are also fortunate to have adventures abroad, including hiking Mont Blanc, the Cotswolds, the Pyrenees, and Queen Charlotte Sound. After our adventures, we still love to return to our home in a cottage community surrounded by gardens and lovely neighbors. There is much to be grateful for, and yet my brain longs for quiet -- time to think, discover, create, and write. It's little wonder I found Sabbatical Homes.
