CUNY professor seeking furnished Manhattan sublet, October 2026 on

Tenant Looking for a Home in New York, NY, United States
Monthly Budget: Minimum USD $3500 | Maximum USD $6000

Looking for an Entire Home | Open to House Sitting
Tenant Timing: From October 1, 2026

Description

I'm a biology professor at City College of New York, where I teach and run a research lab. I also chair the Ecology, Evolution and Behavior PhD subprogram at the CUNY Graduate Center and am a Research Associate in Invertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History. I'm looking for a furnished one or two bedroom in Manhattan starting around October 1st, 2026, ideally through the spring or longer. Brooklyn works as well if it's near the A or D. A bit about me as a tenant. I've been renting furnished sublets in Manhattan continuously for several years, most recently a loft in Chelsea, and before that two apartments belonging to faculty on sabbatical, each for a year or more. I can provide references from three previous hosts. I'm a single occupant, non-smoker, quiet, and away a fair amount, since I split my time with a place in Maine where I do fieldwork. That means less wear on your home than most tenants, and someone who understands what it is to hand your keys to a stranger. I'm glad to look after plants, mail and packages, and happy to care for a pet. When my last host returned after four months away, she described her plants as being in botanical specimen condition. Some flexibility on the start date if it helps. Happy to talk by phone or video, and to provide references early in the conversation rather than late.
