A Mom and her daughter looking for a NY summer

I’m a professional and mom based in Austin, Texas, hoping to start a tradition of spending about a month in New York each summer. My 7-year-old daughter, Nora, would join me for roughly two weeks, and I’d spend the other two weeks on my own. We’re hoping to experience New York less as tourists and more as temporary locals - settling into a neighborhood, finding our regular coffee shop and bookstore, walking to the park, grocery shopping, taking the subway, and letting Nora experience the rhythm of everyday life in the city. When she heads back to Austin, I’d spend the rest of the month working remotely and enjoying the city on my own. I’m a longtime professional in the tech industry and a homeowner in Austin. Nora is a sweet, curious, easygoing kid who loves animals, reading, exploring, and being out and about with me. We travel together often and are very comfortable staying in and caring for other people’s spaces. We’re also big animal lovers and have two cats at home, so I’d be very happy to care for pets, plants, and all the little things that come with keeping a home cared for while someone is away. As a homeowner myself, I understand what it means to trust someone with your space and would treat another person’s home with the same care I’d want someone to give mine. I’m especially drawn to beautiful, walkable, residential neighborhoods with plenty of life nearby, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side are favorites, but I’m open to discovering others as well. Ideally, I’d love to find a furnished home for ~1 month and, if it’s a great fit, potentially build a relationship that could work again in future summers. I’m open to a furnished rental, house or pet sitting, or possibly a home exchange involving our home in Austin. Mostly, I’m hoping to create a special summer tradition for Nora and me: a few weeks of getting to call New York home together, followed by a little time for me to enjoy the city on my own.
