Within hours of posting our notice for an exchange, I had received several responses, and in the end, we had a very successful exchange with academics in New York for the duration that we needed.

They were lovely people, took amazing care of the house, and given that they had a kid nearly the same age as our daughter really helped as well, as we (or they) didn't need to cart toys across the Atlantic. Also, strangely, knowing that there were academics in the house somewhat alleviated my neuroses about my books and CDs, which we left for their use.
